After joining forces to produce and co-host a podcast that ran for five years (2013-2018), Amanda and Mabel reunited to create a podcast that combines our love of history and culture.
Mabel is an avid reader and gamer with a knack for getting overly invested in fictional characters. Most days you can find her in her natural habitat of “cozy chair with pile of books.“
Amanda has far too many hobbies, ranging from gardening to metal-smithing, but always comes back to her love of good stories and art. Trained in art history, education and journalism, she’s now a writer and editor.
Our Favorite Things
Amanda:
- I collect gemstones and that has led to me, in recent years, learning metalsmithing and stonesetting to make fine jewelry… what can I say, I like sparkly things.
- Although I only have a small outdoor space, I enjoy gardening and growing as many veggies and flowers as I can in the summer.
- I love historical homes and live in a modest dwelling that dates back to sometime around 1910, and likely housed railroad workers back in the day. It was a bit challenging to turn it into something inhabitable for a modern-day family.
Mabel:
- I have two cats, an orange one-brain-celled girl named Honey, and a black void who thrives on chaos called Sassenach, but we call her Sassy for short.
- I’m a Nintendo gamer, with a fondness for PS and PC.
- The fastest way to my heart is through a love for The Legend of Zelda franchise. Also acceptable: reading frequently and diversely.
